In this engaging session, fine arts teachers will explore how to connect the authentic work happening in their classrooms to the language and expectations of T-TESS. This session is designed for fine arts educators who want to strengthen instructional practices, increase student engagement, and confidently demonstrate evidence of student growth beyond performances, concerts, and exhibitions. Participants will engage with an activity utilizing the PVA T-TESS Observation Tool that will allow them to analyze dimensions through a fine arts lens, examine classroom examples from music, theatre, visual arts, and dance, and develop practical strategies for aligning daily instruction with evaluation expectations.

By the end of this session, teachers will be able to:
• Identify key T-TESS dimensions that are naturally demonstrated in fine arts classrooms.
• Analyze lesson components and instructional practices that provide evidence of student growth and engagement.
• Implement questioning, feedback, and assessment strategies that align with T-TESS expectations.
• Document and communicate the impact of fine arts instruction using authentic classroom evidence.
• Develop an action plan for strengthening instructional practices and maximizing student outcomes in the fine arts classroom.

Working Better Together: Maximizing In Class Support in Inclusive Classrooms

Effective inclusion requires intentional collaboration and shared responsibility. In this interactive session, participants will explore strategies for maximizing in-class support through strong partnerships between general education and special education staff. Participants will examine collabortive teaching practices, clarify roles and responsibilities, and identify ways to deliver specially designed instruction while maintaining access to grade-level curriculum. Through collaborative activities and real-world scenarios, educators will develop practical approaches to creating inclusive learning environments that promote student engagement, independence, and achievement. By the end of this session, participants will be able to:

  • Identify the roles and responsibilities of general education and special education staff member in inclusive classroom settings.
  • Examine effective models and strategies for providing in-class support and specially designed instruction.
  • Apply collaborative planning practices that promote shared ownership of student success and access to grade-level standards.
  • Analyze classroom scenarios to determine appropriate accommodations, modifications, and support strategies for diverse learners.
  • Implement best practices that maximize student engagement, participation, and academic outcomes within inclusive environments.
