In this mandatory two-part session, elementary principals and one designated social studies teacher per campus will explore how Civics Training Programs support informed American patriotism and the close study of the founding documents of the United States and Texas. Required under Senate Bill 3, this training strengthens the skills and knowledge Texas educators need to lead high-quality civics instruction. Participants will engage in two connected sessions- Part 1 followed by Part 2 the next day-designed to build expertise that carries directly into the classroom. By the end of this session, teachers will be able to:
Analyze the founding documents of the United States and Texas to guide close reading and discussion with students.
Design instruction that cultivates informed American patriotism and civic responsibility.
Implement civics teaching strategies aligned to Senate Bill 3 requirements.
Apply content knowledge and skills to lead meaningful student exploration of foundational civic principles.
As Spring ISD launches high school curriculum slide decks for World Geography & U.S. History, this session supports teachers in using them effectively while maintaining strong instructional delivery. Participants will learn how to use deck icons, teacher notes, embedded supports, and instructional guidelines to implement the slide decks with purpose.
