In this engaging session, fine arts teachers will explore how to connect the authentic work happening in their classrooms to the language and expectations of T-TESS. This session is designed for fine arts educators who want to strengthen instructional practices, increase student engagement, and confidently demonstrate evidence of student growth beyond performances, concerts, and exhibitions. Participants will engage with an activity utilizing the PVA T-TESS Observation Tool that will allow them to analyze dimensions through a fine arts lens, examine classroom examples from music, theatre, visual arts, and dance, and develop practical strategies for aligning daily instruction with evaluation expectations.
By the end of this session, teachers will be able to: • Identify key T-TESS dimensions that are naturally demonstrated in fine arts classrooms. • Analyze lesson components and instructional practices that provide evidence of student growth and engagement. • Implement questioning, feedback, and assessment strategies that align with T-TESS expectations. • Document and communicate the impact of fine arts instruction using authentic classroom evidence. • Develop an action plan for strengthening instructional practices and maximizing student outcomes in the fine arts classroom.
